Contemp. half calf (rubbed, sm. def. at head), gilt spines with 5 raised band. Good uncut set.

First 2 vol. (first vol. in 3rd ed., second vol. in 2nd ed.) of a famous Dutch scientific periodical, eventually reaching 30 vol. in the period 1754-1793. Due to its success the initial vol. had to be reprinted. The essays deal with mathematics, medicine, geography, physics and astronomy: "beschouwing der wind-molens", "veilige geneezing der jichtpijnen", "de waare breedte, buiten den middag te vinden", "over loodstoffen in de wijnen" etc. Ill. with two engr. front., two engr. vign. on titles, an engr. arm. headp. and 13 (6, 7) engr. plates (i.a. maps, folding, 1 coloured by hand).
