Contemp. Dutch overl. vellum, flat spine with ink title. Good copy.

Second edition (1st: 1659, 4to), second issue without errata in the end, of this work on physiognomy. Deals with: "La médiocrité fait la perfection de l'âme et du corps", "L'Âme se meut véritablement", "Comment le bien et le mal émeuvent l'appétit", "Les définitions des passions simples", "Comment on peut prévoir les actions", "Que la Lune gouverne le cerveau", "Mercure gouverne les oreilles", etc. Illustrated with an engr. title. The French physician Cureau de La Chambre (1594-1669), was personal physician to Louis XIV. In 1634 he became an early member of the Académie française, and in 1666 was a founding member of the Académie des sciences.
