Description du lot
2 parts in 1 vol., 16mo: 389-[2], 128 pp. (sm. wormhole near lower gutter margin in 2nd half).
Contemp. limp overl. vellum, flat spine (soiled & sl. used, endpapers def., missing front flyleaf?). Good copy.
Extremely rare third Conincx edition (1st 1579, 2nd 1582) of this psalm book with printed music, trsl. and put to rhyme by the important Antwerp publisher and rhetoric poet W. van Haecht (ca. 1530-after 1585), for use of the Lutheran Congregation of Antwerp and Brussels. The second part with title "Het tweede deel, in-houdende de psalmen/ lofsangen/ hymnen ende gheestelijke lidekens/ diemen meest inder christelijker ghemeynten ghewoonlijc is te singhen". Printed music throughout. It carries, just as the catechism bound with, the privilege of Farnese, the Catholic Duke of Parma. This could indicate that at the time, the followers of the Augsburg Confession in Brabant were hardly oppressed by the Reformers. Printed in Gothic type. Woodcut David mark on title.
