+/- 46 drawings, watercolours, paper cuts etc, various sizes and papers, most pasted on plain, decorated or embossed ff. of different colours (occ. fox.).

Bound in one vol., 27,5 x 22,5 cm, contemp. bordeaux leather (corners and joints sl. rubbed), covers orn. with an outer gilt rule surrounding a large ornam. blind-stamped panel, blind-stamped orn. flat spine titled "Album", inner gilt dentelle, gilt orn. sides, a.e.g. Nice copy.

Manuscript note on the 1st f. "Harriet Cooper from her sister Mary Sept. 1853". This charming album opens with a ms. acrostic poem on the word "album" and a nice chromolith. title specially designed for this type of production. Contains some carefully executed floral paper cuts pasted on different col. backgrounds, pen or pencil drawings picturing landscapes, houses, "Fast Castle", "Loch Katrine" and "Loch Venachar" signed G. Rae, 13, 26 and 27/10/1836, "Mont blanc" signed Grace Rae, 19/10/1836, "Lago Maggiore and Isola Superiore" signed Harriet Cooper, 12/1824, "Spring Park" signed Jane Cooper, "The Mofs Cottage Wyndcliffe" monogr. MBK., a pen caricature signed Marian Huppard [?], a pen calligraphic design representig a swan, 1840, watercolours incl. 2 signed Jane Cooper (crocus and butterfly), 2 signed Gertrude Helps, Jan. 1888 and other unsigned drawings and watercolours. With also 2 compositions of dried flowers, some vignettes cut out from publications and some mss texts (i.a. copies of poems of Lord Byron and Miss Roscoe, and 2 obituary ms. mentions concerning the death of G. Rae' s infant and wife). Nice romantic binding.
