Collection of publicitary ephemera.

1-3. Three same engraved labels "Sie-gaaren" (7,3 x 11,1 cm), with handwritten mark "1K", intended to be pasted on a pack of tobacco. The engraving shows a coloured man smoking, with tobacco leaves in his hand. In the distance a docked (colonial) ship? - 4-5. Two same publicitary ephemera (12,3 x 17 cm), praising in French and German "Sebastien Stern & Compagnie" in Frankfurt selling all sorts of tobacco "à rapper, tant en carottes qu'en poudre & en boëtes" from Holland, Morocco, etc. "le tout à un prix raisonnable". - 6. Broadsheet (47 x 57 cm), with four engraved labels "Veritable Rook en Canasfer Tabak by P.I.K. Mechelen" spread over the sheet, illustrated with the Roman sea god Neptune (?), designed to fold into a cone bag to stash tobacco. - 7. Bère, F. - Les tabacs. Engraved label "Beste Varinas Porto Rico en andere zoorten tabak bij Herman's Oldenkott en Zoonen te Amsterdam" (7,3 x 8,8 cm), cut out and pasted on to a later paper invitation (verso), with blindstamp of Herman's Oldenkott.
Joined: Nilson, Johannes Esaias - 8 scenes with pipe-smoking men from the series "Caffe The und Tobac Zierathen". 18th c. Engravings, 9,2 x 14,1 cm, design 7 x 9,2 cm, handmade paper, signed "J.E. Nilson, inv.: sculps. et excud. Aug. V." (some light spotting). Eight prints of men smoking while being served tea by women in a playful rococo setting. Nilson (1721-before 1788) was a German miniature painter, draughtsman and engraver of the 18th century from the artist family Nilson. Originally, the scenes were presented with 4 on one leaf. Our 8 scenes are cut out and are numbered in the plate 5-12. Ref. Berlin Kat. 165-IV. (16 pcs)
