Contemp. quarter calf (rubbed, corners bumped), spines with 6 raised bands (joints rubbed, heads & tails def. esp. at vol I.), black leather title label. Good copy.

Beautiful edition of the masterpiece of Ovid, with Latin and Dutch texts juxtaposed, and explication of the fables in Dutch. Engr. ill.: mark on titles, engr. front. by B. Picart and 130 large engr. plates (124 in text and 6 on 3 full pp.) by B. Picart, F. Bouttats, J. Folkema, P. & M. Bouche, J. Wandelaar and Ph. a Gunst after G. Maas, J. de Wit, S. Le Clercq, C. Le Brun, P. Testa... "Magnifique ouvrage" and preferable to the French edition because of the earlier impression of the plates (Cohen). Some woodcut initials and endpieces. Titles in red and black.
