Very small, portable format of this attractive set of Cook's voyages (part 14-28 of "Bibliothèque portative des voyages"). Each voyage counts 4 text vol. and 1 atlas vol. All together illustrated with 3 fold. maps and 71 (of 72) engr. double page pl. Captain James Cook (1728 - 1779) was a British explorer, navigator, cartographer, and captain in the Royal Navy. He made detailed maps of Newfoundland prior to making these three voyages to the Pacific Ocean, during which he achieved the first recorded European contact with the eastern coastline of Australia and the Hawaiian Islands, and the first recorded circumnavigation of New Zealand.
