First edition of this analysis of the miraculous economic success of Holland, the leading province of the Dutch Republic by Dutch economist and businessman Pieter de la Court (1618-85). The work is still seen as one of the 17th and 18th centuries' preeminent textbooks on economics and political freedom. De la Court identifies the free competition and the republican form of government as the leading factors of the wealth and power of Holland.
