6 fascicles in 2 large vol. folio: vi-ii-102, [2]-xiii/xiv-103/184 pp.; 91 pl. (general title in vol. I sl. soiled, some pl. sl. browned in vol. II).

Contemp. half red morocco, paper covers, flat spines with gilt title (rubbed). Large paper copy.

First edition illustrated with 91 splendid plates, of which 2 on double page. Redouté contributed to this work with 54 plates and with the supervision and distribution of the book. The magistrate and botanist L'Héritier (1746-1800) was Superintendent of Parisian Waters and Forests. He instructed Redouté in the dissection and the details of plant anatomy and opened up his private library to him.
