Lot description

Oudet - A finely executed series of 10 prints of camellias, drawn by J.J. Jung from the flowers in the greenhouse of Lorenzo Bernardo Berlèse (1784-1863), engraved by Oudet and printed by N. Rémond. The stipple and line engravings were printed in colour, "à la poupée", then finished by hand, a technique perfect for botanical prints. Cousin, 1841-1843. - 10 meticulously conceived and technically advanced lithographs of tulips, gladioli etc., printed in colours by William Day (1797 - 1845) and Louis Haghe (1806 - 1895) and extracted from Jane Wels Loudon's "The ladies flowergarden of ornamental bulbous plants" (London: William Smith, 1841). - Morandi, Johannes Baptista - A series of 10 copper engr., very detailed and accurately drawn and engraved by the author, from his classical “herbarium”, the "Historia botanica practica, seu plantarum, quae ad usum medicinae pertinet" (Milano: Malatesta - Giuseppe Galeazzi, 1744-1761). The tables include pictures of aloe vera, cannabis, lilies, thyme, tulips, etc. - Severeyns, G. - 11 lithographs after A.J. Wendel. Extracted from "Nederlandsche Flora en Pomona, beschreven en uitgegeven door het Bestuur der Pomologische Vereeniging te Boskoop. By K.J.W. Ottolander, A. Koster & C. de Vos." (Groningen: J.B. Wolters, 1876-1879). The very fine illustrations depict mayflower, tiger flower, peony, balloon flower etc. - 8 lithographs from "in Horto von Houtteano" (19th c.), incl. one of lilies after L. Stroobant. - 4 lith. with textpage. Encompassing: great periwinkle ("Vinca Major", pl. 111), purple-spiked loose-strife ("Lythrum salicaria", pl. 186), tutsan ("Hypericum Androsaemum", pl. 206), musk mallow ("Molva moschata", pl. 228). - A series of 45 lithographs by de Burggraaff, after G.
