"A page-for-page reprint except for the table, of the edition of 1474 by the same printers" (BMC), of the major work of the Franciscan canon lawyer de Platea (d. 1460). His treatise is generally considered to be one of the earliest printed works on economics, although it also deals with matters of moral, legal and political import from accross Italy. In the section on excommunication, he details seven ways of falsifying papal documents, all of which, of course, would lead to excommunication. He also considers the moral standing of a person who has ordered a failed assassination and condemns inquisitors who extort money from suspected heretics. Printed in gothic type, in 2 cols. Rubricated in red and blue ink. Ref. ISTC ip00758000. - Goff P-758. - Polain 4658. - BMC V:227.- CIBN P-435. - Not in BSB-Ink. Prov. "S M" gilt-lettered on tail. - [Georges Petit].
