2nd, with 38 maps enlarged, duodecimo ed. of Clüver's 1st comprehensive modern geographical textbook (1st 4to: 1624; 1st 24mo: 1627; 1st sm. 12mo: 1651), incl. P. Bertius' "Breviarium totius Orbis Terrarum". Bertius (1565-1629) was cosmographer to Louis XIII and brother-in-law of Jodocus Hondius. Illustrated with an allegorical front. and 38 maps, i.e. a world map, 4 maps of the continents, maps of Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, British Isles, Scandinavia, Italy, Russia, China, India, Turkey, Palestine, etc. The Americas are entitled "America sive India Occidentalis". Also with 2 fold. pl. with compass roses and 1 table "Typus intervallorum variarum gentium". Clüver was a historical geographer, specialized in the Near East and ancient geography.
