Jason and Medea in the temple of Jupiter, paying homage to the ruler of the gods. Reverse copy after a Gobelin designed in 1748 by the French artist Jean-François de Troy (1676-1752). The tapestry was part of a series commissioned by the Bâtiments du Roi for the Gobelins tapestry manufacture. De Troy was commissioned to produce a series of cartoons for seven tapestries illustrating episodes from the story of Jason. An oil sketch in preparation of the tapestry is now in the collection of the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza (inv. 409), in Madrid.
