Contemp. sheep (sl. worn). Good copy.

1st ed. of a history of English ecclesiastical history (16th-17th c.) in verse, written in the metre of "Hudibras", by Th. Ward (1652-1708), an English teacher who converted to Catholicism.

Contemp. gilt calf, covers with oval "Arma Christi" stamp (rebacked, new endpapers). Good copy. Bound with, same printer: Summarium rationum, quibus cancellarius Angliae et prolocutor Pyckeringius Elizabethae Angliae reginae persuaserunt occidendam esse [...] Mariam Stuartam Scotiae reginam [...] [and] Maria stuarta, regina Scotiae [...] martyr ecclesiae, innocens a caede Darleana [...]. 1627 (usual toning).
