Second edition of the French translation (1st French-German ed.: Amst., 1669, as the original Dutch ed.) of this rare popular book combining garden design and architecture, with the cultivation of fruit and flowers, as well as sections on animal medicines and bees. Each part has its own title page: 1. "Le jardinier du Pays-Bas", - 2. "24. nouveaux & curieux modelles de parterres à la françoise [...]", - 3. "Deux cens modelles, pour ceux qui se plaisent au jardinage [...]", - 4. "Boutique à remèdes, enseignant, de quelle manière il faut préparer les médecines pour guérir les maladies des animaux", - 5. "Traité des abeilles, ou mouches à miel [...]". The book, ill. with more than 250 woodcuts, gives numerous models of parterres, labyrinths, trellises, fountains, etc., explanations of many plants, notes on sundials, etc. Vander Groen, gardener to the Prince of Orange, also explains the difference between the French and the Dutch garden. Parts 4 and 5 were written by the physician Nijland and deal with beekeeping and veterinary medicine.
