Lot description
Early 19th c
Drawing, pen and brown ink, brown, blue and grey wash 39,2 x 28,8 cm, wove paper, unsigned (some foxing, pin holes in corners, some min. tears at edges).
A monumental ewer, lavishly decorated with notably two female figures whose bodies terminate in foliate scrolls on the front. The vase is copied after Jean Lepautre's "Portraicture de diverses vases" (1660) and is set on a ledge overlooking a cityscape which can be identified as Delft.
