Folio: [56]-1043 (= 1047) pp. (inner margin of title-page restored, small marginal dampstain in first and last ff., a few stains). Good copy.

Cont. calf over wood, blind-stamped covers with ruled border, roll-stamps (one with portraits), and 4 small central panel-stamps, spine on raised bands, red edges, fore-edge titled, metal clasps on leather tongues (rebacked, original backstrip preserved, new endpapers and flyleaves, a few scratches).

First ed. by Jean Gillot, of the Latin translations from the Greek by a.o. Godefroy Tilmann and Johannes Argyropulus. Basil the Great (329/330-379), Cappadocian Church Father, is one of the Three Hierarchs (with Gregory of Nazianzus and John Chrysostom). Text in two columns. Large printer's mark on title-page. Ref. Pettegree FB 56437. - Not in Adams, STC French (other ed.), Machiels, Soltész. Prov. Ownership entry on title erased.
