Drawing, pen and brown ink, brown wash, 10 x 15,5 cm, laid paper, unsigned (sm. pinholes at upper right and lower right corners).
Van Beest was a prolific Dutch Romantic marine painter. In 1845 he moved to New York, where he died in 1860. The present drawing was probably made shortly before his emigration.
