On vellum, in French, folded. In good condition.

The Baudequins are the descendant of a family from Dijon who entered the service of the Dukes of Burgundy during the 15th century. They were admitted to the nobility on 10 November 1589. Ref. De Vegiano, Nobiliaire des Pays-Bas, I:110/111.
1. Recognition of baptism of Charles Baudequin, son of Denis Baudequin, king's sommelier, by Charles de Lannoy and Pierre Boisot who as godfathers held him at the baptismal font of Collegiate Church of St. Gudula, with their autograph signatures. 4 March 1518. 1 f. Charles de Lannoy (ca. 1487-1527), knight of the Golden Fleece, served as viceroi of Naples from 1522 to 1523 and became chief of Imperial armies in Italy. Ref. Biogr. nat. XI:297/303.-- 2. Philip II of Spain - Granting of the office of Councillor Receiver General of the County of Namur to Philippe Baudequin. Brussels, 19 Jan. 1588. 1 f. (44 x 49 cm): with a large red wax pendant seal (contemp. ms. annot. on back, seal sl. broken). The pendant seal (diam. 12 cm) has Philippe II on the obverse and his coat of arms on the reverse. Ph. Baudequin served Charles V as "sommelier de la panetrie" for many years.-- 3. Id. - Granting of the Conciergerie of the Royal House in Lille to Claude Baudequin. Aranjuez, 10 Nov. 1589. 1 f. (45 x 58 cm) (seal missing, contemp. mss. annot. on back). Son of the previous, Cl. Baudequin was made Lord of The Hague and married Marie de la Rivière, daughter of the Mayor of Lille.-- 4. Confirmation of this grant signed by Alexander Farnese, Duke of Parma. 24 Oct. 1592. 1 f. (54,5 x 30 cm). Enriched with 2 copies of previous grants.-- 5. Another confirmation by the Archdukes Albert and Isabella. Brussels, 8 Sept. 1600. 1 f. (41 x 53,5 cm): with a large red wax pendant seal (contemp. mss annot. on back, seal sl. broken). The pendant seal (diam. 12 cm) has Albert and Isabella on the obverse and their coat of arms on the reverse.-- 6. Sharing Philippe Baudequin's legacy among his children Charles, Claude, Françoise and Catherine. Lille. 28 April 1592. Folio (30,5 x 20,5 cm): 8 ff.-- 7. Philip IV of Spain - Granting to Charles Baudequin to make his will. Brussels, 11 Jan. 1650. 1 f. (39,5 x 50 cm): on vellum, in Dutch, folded, with a red wax pendant seal (contemp. mss. annot. on back, seal part. broken). Charles Baudequin, brother of Cl. Baudequin, was knighted in 1613 and was made receiver of the ambassadors at the court of Madrid. He died without heirs. The pendant seal (diam. 10 cm) has an equestrian portrait of the King as a knight on the obverse and his coat of arms on the reverse. Ref. De Vegiano, Nobiliaire des Pays-Bas, I:424.-- 8. Guillaume III de Melun - Attestation of affiliation delivered to Philippe II Baudequin, son of Cl. Baudequin. Biez, 26 Feb. 1624. 1 f. (31,5 x 63 cm): with a red wax pendant seal (contemp. mss. annot. on back, seal part. broken). Ph. Baudequin was at the service of Lord of Melun, also Prince of Épinoy, Viscount of Ghent, Lord of Biez, etc., hereditary constable of Flanders, and Knight of the Golden Fleece.-- 9. Purchase of a fief by Ph. Baudequin. Brussels, 17 March 1632 1 f. (42 x 67 cm): with a red wax pendant seal (seal used).-- 10-14. Four letters of annuity delivered to the same. Lille, 1640 (x 2), 1642, 1648. 4 ff. (various sizes): each with two seals protected with paper.-- 15. Philip IV of Spain - Deed of Knighthood to Ferdinand de Baudequin, lord of Biez (Walloon Brabant), signed "Philippe". Madrid, 25 Apr. 1661. 1 f. (48 x 66 cm): with a large red wax pendant seal, in his protective box, (diam. 13 cm) with seated King on the obverse and with his coat of arms on the reverse (with contemp. mss annot. on back).
Joined: ± 50 letters in French and in Spanish addressed to members of Baudequin family, incl. some 10 letters from P. Roose, President of the Private Council, and 1 by Antonio Carnero, "contador" in the Spanish army in the Low Countries, to Ch. Baudequin. (± 65 pcs)
