Antwerp, H. & C. Verdussen, 1699

3 vol., 4to: [4]-542-[2], [2]-472, [4]-592-[14] pp.; 24 pl. (browning, some foxing, quire Hhh of vol. I double, 1 pl. of vol. III missing).

Later blond calf, covers surrounded by a double blind-stamped filet, gilt. ornament. spine with raised bands and labels, red edges (covers and corners bumped, upper turn-in of vol. I sl. splitting as well as joints of vol. I & III, some lack of leather at tail of vol. III).

Third edition of the complete works of one of the most prominent Spanish poets of the Baroque era, Quevedo (1580-1645), printed in the Low Countries. The two earlier editions were printed in Brussels by François Foppens (1660-1661, 1670-1671). Both Foppens and Verdussen editions follow the Inquisition prohibition on the "Sueños" (a satirical prose work). Titles of Verdussen edition (vol. I printed in black and red) are identical to the 1660-1661 Foppens edition, except for the address. The Verdussen edition does not contain "Las tres ultimas Musas". Ill. with 24 fine engr. plates by Bouttats, Causé, Clouwet and Harrewijn.
