Ill. with 6 engr. maps and 22 engr. pl. showing caught animals, fishing instruments, a herring fishery, a polar bear killing a fisherman, Sámi people in traditional costume, a Greenlander in a kayak, a sled pulled by a reindeer, etc. Part one on hunting whales, narwhals, porpoises, seals, walrus and herring. Part two on the indigenous peoples: Inuit and Sámi. Part three containing accounts of Greenland, Spitsbergen, Nova Zembla, etc. including a study of its flora and birds.
