Contemp. marbled calf by La Ferté "fils-aîné" (sm. label on vol. I title), covers ruled with three gilt fillets, gilt orn. spines with raised bands, marbled edges (rubbed, front joints splitting, partly reinforced to vol. I).

Ed. published by Lodovico Castelvetro (ca. 1505-1571), Renaissance writer. Illustrated with copper-engr.: 1 frontispiece, 3 plates (dedication incl.), 8 historiated headpieces & 117 tailpieces (some large), some small initials, 2 printer's marks on title and 1 final armorial tailpiece.
