Latin pocket-size atlas of Ortelius' "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum" for the international market intended as a cheaper option for travellers and students. Instead of the earlier editions by Philips Galle with less elegant engraved maps, J.B. Vrients, the publisher of Galle's 1601 and 1602 edition, used for this 1609 edition the new and finer engraved maps by Ambrosius and Ferdinand Arsenius. These had previously been published by Jan I van Keerbergen for a competitive 1601 edition of the "Epitome" with newly inserted text by Michael Coignet. Unlike the earlier editions, the maps all have latitudes and longitudes in their borders.
