8vo: [6]-165-[8, 1 bl.] pp. (sl. toned, sm. paper flaws to a few blank fore-edge margins).
19th-c. havanna morocco by Bauzonnet, covers with triple gilt ruled border, gilt spine on 5 raised bands, gilt sides, gilt and marbled edges, marbled endpapers, red silk marker (sm. dent in front cover). Very good copy.
4th recorded copy of the extr. rare 2nd ed. (1st 1555) of a collection of amusing stories and anecdotes by A. Tiron, 16th-c. French teacher and translator (of i.a. Amadis de Gaule) active in Antwerp. The work is dedicated to Jacques de la Faille, and bears a privilege of 20 May 1576. Later Antwerp editions followed in 1593 and 1596. Illustrated with 18 woodcuts in text (incl. one on title).
