The main work of Jean Mariette (1654-1742), print maker, collector and publisher in Paris. Mariette promoted the prevailing architecture of the late Baroque of the French nobility and royal courts of Louis XIV and Louis XV. This copy is a recomposed ed. which includes 271 (of 547) pl. from all four vol. of the first ed. They consist of ground plans and elevations of French palace and domestic architecture.
