Later Nürnberg edition of the famous German Bible translation of Martin Luther (1483-1546), in the so-called richly illustrated Weimar Bible or "Kurfürstenbibel" or "Elector Bible" or "Ernestine Bible" (1st 1641) named after the 11 portraits of the Protestant electors in the prefatory matter. Engr. ill.: title and 12 full-page portraits by J. C. Claussner (11 of the Saxon Electors with their coat of arms, 1 of Luther), 9 plates with portraits of biblical figures, 4 double-page maps with fine baroque cartouches and illustrations, 2 double-page plans of Jerusalem, 21 engr. pictorial titles and plates (some double-page), several woodcut initials and vignettes.
