16mo: 183 (of 184)-160-8] ff. (lacking final blank pt. 1; toned).

19th-c. gilt crimson morocco by H. Duru, covers with triple gilt ruled border, richly gilt spine on 5 raised bands, gilt side, gilt inside dentelles, a.e.g. (over marbled edges), marbled endpapers, blue silk marker (sl. rubbed, sm. stain on front cover). Very good copy.

Extr. rare (only copy known ?) edition of the French version of Gerileon of England. The Yemeniz cat. notes “Le titre a été habilement refait” - and indeed the first title is supplied in manuscript. Two (original?) woodcuts on final ff. (otherwise blank). Ref. Cat. Yemeniz II:233:2310 (this copy). - Cp. SvGültlingen (Rigaud) 1302 & Pettegree FB 22675 (Bk 2 only). - Not in Adams, BnF, STC French (BL). Prov. Nicolas Yemeniz (1781-1871), famous French bibliophile of Ottoman descent (collector’s ticket). - [Georges Petit].
