19th-c. blind-tooled crimson morocco by Koehler, covers with blind-ruled border with corner pieces and gilt coat of arms, gilt-titled spine on 5 raised bands, gilt sides, gilt inside dentelles, a.e.g., marbled endpapers, green silk marker. Very good copy.

Extr. rare edition (1st 1552) of a chivalric story in the wake of the enormously popular Amadis de Gaule novels, and translated from the Spanish (?) by the Amadis translator Nicolas Herberay des Essarts (d. 1557). Ref. Baudrier III:280 (no copy). - Cat. Yemeniz II:240:2327 (this copy). - Pettegree FB 19981 (1: Dijon). - Not in Adams, BnF, STC French (BL). Prov.
