4to: [4]-118 ff. (toned, occasional soiling or staining, traces of erasure in blank central part of title).

19th-c. gold-tooled brown leather by Thompson of Paris (active 1842-1870), covers with gilt central arms within elaborately gilt ornamental border, richly gilt spine on 5 raised bands, gilt inside dentelles, a.e.g. Very good copy.

Extr. rare Antwerp edition (4th recorded copy?) of the popular story of The Four Sons of Aymon (Dutch “De vier Heemskinderen”). It is “a medieval tale spun around the four sons of Duke Aymon: the knight Renaud de Montauban, his brothers Guichard, Allard and Richardet, their magical horse Bayard, their adventures and revolt against the emperor Charlemagne” (Wikipedia). Title within woodcut border. 5 woodcuts in text. Printed in 2 cols. Ref.
