Contemp. brown mottled and polished calf, gilt-tooled spine with raised bands, sprinkled edges (some sm. scratches, sm. wormhole on a spine). Good condition.
Second edition (1st ed., Louvain, 1693) of this anatomical manual, published by the widow of Verheyen (1648-1710), professor of medicine at Louvain. Contains also the controversy on the study of the foetus, by the French surgeon Jean Méry (1645-1722).Copy complete with 47 engr. ill.: 1 frontispiece (author's allegorical portrait) by P. Devel, and 46 anatomical folding plates. Engr. armorial headpiece on the dedication to the States of Brabant, woodcut initials, head- and tailpieces. Title printed in red and black. Ref. Bibl.
