8vo: 609-[38] pp. (sm. wormtrack in text of 2 first ff., marg. dampstaining, (ink) stains, sm. marg. wormhole(s) and sometimes wormtracks).

Contemp. calf, blind-ruled covers orn. with a sm. gilt medallion portrait of Plato and sm. gilt fleurons, gilt-orn. spine with raised bands (rebacked and part of the boards renewed, repairs to edges and most corners, head def., tail missing, sl. rubbed).

Erasmus’ popular book of classical anecdotes and quotations, 1st publ. Basel March 1531. Woodcut mark on title and verso of last leaf. With ms. marginalia and one sentence crossed out on p. 33.
