First edition of Le Moyne's first book on emblems. The Jesuit author (1602-1671) was one of the architects of the revival of emblematic literature, which had been in decline since the end of the 16th c. Ill. with engr.: title vignette, 26 "devises heroiques" and 28 "devises morales".
