19th-c. blind-ruled red shagreen with gilt fleur-de-lis cornerpieces, gilt-orn. spine with 4 raised bands, gilt sides and gilt inside dentelles, marbled endpapers, gilt gauffered edges (sm. trace of red wax on upper board, sl. rubbed joints and bands).

The first of the Clein-Koberger ed. of this popular prayer book (Little Garden of the Soul), similar in content to the Book of Hours, illustrated by Springinklee and Schön: a woodcut on title with Virgin Mary and Child on crescent moon, 2 calendar woodcuts (sun and moon), 81 (of 82) woodcuts in-text (incl. repetitions) and 6 small woodcuts. The text consists of an office of the Virgin and a variety of popular prayers, including prayers of individual saints. Printed in red & black in Gothic within varying woodcut historiated or architectural border.
