Beschrijving lot

The Hague

Drawing, watercolour, charcoal, pencil, laid paper with watermark (Honig Lion: Churchill 160), signed in pencil at bottom left "J. Bosboom".

Under passe-partout.

A study sheet with women shopping at a market nearby a city gate. Bosboom (1817-1891) was a Dutch painter working in The Hague, known for his street scenes and church interiors in the style of the Golden Age artists such as Pieter Saendredam. His works are now in the collections of Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. He is considered an early member of the "Haagse School".

Joined: Monogrammist J.N. (possibly Johann Nussbiegel) - Explosion of the entrepots of Haarlem, on 13th of June 1819. Watercolour, 15 x 19,5 cm, laid paper, signed and dated at lower right "J.N. 1819". Mounted on thick paper by left corners. (2 pcs)
