Second Lyon ed. and first illustrated Lyon ed. (1st Basel 1542). Attractive handy format for this famous herbarium by Fuchs and the first use of this important woodcut series. Illustrated with Arnoullet's sea-horse device on title, a woodcut portrait of the author and over 500 miniature botanical woodcuts of plants (one hand-coloured) with their names in Greek, Latin, German and French. The illustrations are reduced versions of the woodcuts in the folio ed. publ. by Isingrin in Basel which were commissioned from Clément Boussy by Arnoullet in 1547. Printed within red ruled borders.
