Typical view by the Dutch painter Moucheron (Amst. 1667-1744) who travelled in Italy. Is it a real landscape (villa d'Este at Tivoli ?) or an imaginary Italianate view with garden, grotto, classical architecture and statuary ? Prov. Victor Winthrop Newman (1860-?), American engraver and collector whose collection was sold in 1920 (embossing stamp, L. 2540).
