19th-c. gilt mottled calf (expertly rebacked), covers with gilt ornamental border, richly gilt flat spine with morocco label, marbled endpapers. Good copy.
Early ed. of the famous Essais, issued by various booksellers. With an extensive Index. Engr. title. Engraved portrait of Montaigne, facing p. 1.
