Contemp. mottled sheep, gilt orn. spine with raised bands, red spr. edges (sl. rubbed, sm. lack to one upper corner).

Fourth edition (1st: 1648) of this work on military architecture by the Jesuit Fournier (1595-1652). Illustrated in the 2nd part with 111 nice copper-engr. plates (incl. 2 engr. titles) figuring fortified cities and plans (Mont-Saint-Michel, Brescia, Dunkerque, Sestos, Greda, Moeurs, Gomorre, Arras, etc.), mathematical tables, plans of fortifications and constructions.
