First and only edition. Ill. with 45 (of 47) chromolithographed plates mounted under passe-partout after original drawings. Wilhelm Krausz (1878-1959) studied at the Vienna Academy under Franz Rumpler as well as in Paris and Munich. He spent the years 1915-1917 as a war painter in the Balkans. This work was commissioned by the Austrian War Ministry, during the First World War, to celebrate the Gallipoli battle victory. The plates include fine landscapes of the Levant, the main Turkish political and military leaders (including Mustafa Kemal, later Ataturk) and scenes of the Ottoman military and navy.
