Rare and sought-after work on Dutch snakes including the common European adder found in the Drenthe province in the northeastern part of the Netherlands. By the Dutch tax-collector J. Van Lier (1726-1799) who also published about natural history, history and archaeology. Illustrated with an engr. title within ornamental border by J.C. Philips after W. Veltman and 3 nice hand-coloured engr. pl. showing a snake, an adder, and a slow worm. Bilingual text in two col.
