Very rare Antwerp edition of the customary law of Lille, printed for the first time in 1533. This is probably a later ed. by Jan II van Ghelen (fl. 1546-1583), working under the mark "Inden Witten Hazewint" (cf. Imprimeurs du XVIe siècle dans nos provinces. Cat. d'exposition. Bruxelles, Bibl. royale, 1975, p. 34). Title within elaborate woodcut border and with large woodcut mark of Van Ghelen with motto "In principio erat verbum". Large woodcut mark of Van Ghelen on H4r, with motto "Fide numquam polluta", under colophon "Imprime en Anvers/ sur la mouraille de Lombarde chez Jehan de Ghelen/ au Levrier blancq". This mark is documented between 1569 and 1577 (Vandeweghe & Op de Beeck). Fleur-de-lis of Lille on H4v. Printed in Gothic type of 2 sizes (larger one for headings).
