Old marbled sheep (sl. rubbed, some tears), blind-stamped spine with 5 raised bands (joints rubbed, sm. def. at head & tail). Acceptable copy.
Second Dutch edition of a rare Renaissance Latin emblem book by Laurentius Haechtanus (Mechelen 1527-1603 Antwerp). 1st publ. in 1579 as "Mikrokosmos. Parvus Mundus", trsl. in Dutch by Jan Moerman (1st 1584, Plantin) and adapted by Vondel in his "Gulden winckel" (1613). Engr. ill.: title by C.J. Visscher and 71 (of 74) engr. by Gerard de Jode. The text and pl. are unchanged from the 1584 Antwerp edition except for the new engr. title.
