Contemp. black shagreen, spines with 4 raised bands (faded, head and tail def., joints splitting).
French translation by Séraphin J. Mottet (1861-1930) of "The Illustrated Dictionary of Gardening" by Nicholson (1847-1908), English botanist and horticulturist, curator of Kew Gardens, who was awarded the Victoria Medal of Honour by the Royal Horticultural Society in 1897 for his contribution to horticulture. Ill. with 75 chromo-lithographs and one in b/w drawn by Henri Caruchet, R. Godard, A. Lefevre, Elisa Champion, etc. Abundantly ill. in text.
