Important and beautiful edition of this masterpiece of Italian Renaissance literature. Illustrated with 51 full-page woodcuts within orn. borders after designs by the painter from Ferrara Dosso Dossi (or Giovanni di Niccolò de Lutero (1489-1542)). The woodcuts were 1st used in the 1565 ed. Title within elaborate architectural woodcut border incorporating publ. mark. "Ottima edizione sia sul piano iconografico (51 tavole a piena pagina incise in legno) che su quello esegetico: vi sono le annotazioni del Ruscelli, la biografia ariostea del Pigna" (Agnelli).
