Only ed. of a rare and attractive emblem book by the Hasselt Augustinian author Mantelius (1599-1676), illustrating the improvement of religious life, in accordance with the teaching of Augustinus. The work is dedicated to Augustinus’ great supporter Cornelius Jansenius. Ill. with an engr. title by P. de Jode after E. Quellin and 17 nice engraved emblems also by Petrus de Jode, representing scenes from contemporary life.
