Vol. I-III: contemp. red morocco, covers fully gilt decorated with roll-stamps, angular flower tools "à l'éventail", different central ornament on the three volumes, central coat of arms on vol. I and II, gilt orn. spines with raised bands, gilt chiselled edges (sl. rubbed, black staining on covers, one wormhole on front cover of vol. II and vol. III). Vol. IV: contemp. dark red morocco, covers finely gilt decorated with frames of fillets, tiny roll-stamps and identical floral roll-stamps, covers orn. also with small central coat of arms ruled within a frame of volutes and with flower tools in the angles, spine with raised bands fully gilt ornamented, gilt chiselled edges (sl. rubbed).

First Portuguese translation from Spanish of the theological work of the Jesuit missionary P. de Calatayud (1689-1773). The first edition was published in 2 vol. in Valencia 1737-1739. The 4th volume was published later in 1752 which probably explains why it is bound in an another binding than the first three. Nice gilt stamped bindings.
