Contemp. black morocco ("reliure de deuil") with double gilt ruled border and gilt cornerpieces on covers (smaller defects due to worming), gilt spines with 5 raised bands (1 band rubbed), a.e.g., gilt sides, marbled endpapers, 4 silk markers (in blue, yellow and red) knotted together on a coloured silk ball (trace of use). Excellent well-preserved set.

Elegantly printed Lyonese edition of the French version of the Roman Breviary, translated by Nicolas Le Tourneux. Each vol. covers a particular "season". With two local additions: "Die XVI Junii in festo S. Joannis Francisci Regis Societatis Jesu" (Lyon, P. Valfray, 1747, 4 pp.) and "Officium SS. Cordis domini nostri Jesu Christi. Duplex majus ad libitum in tota dioecesi Lugdunensi" (Lyon, P. Valfray, 1726, 16 pp.). Ill. with 9 full-page engraved plates (1 in collation, 8 outside). Printed in red and black throughout.
