Contemp. polished calf, richly gilt spine with 6 raised bands with morocco label, marbled endpapers (front cover sl. stained, front joint splitting). Excellent well-preserved copy.
Dissertation on the origin and rights of the Benedictine Abbey of Stavelot-Malmedy, opposing the views of the Maurists Martène and Durand. Johann Ignaz Roderique (1697-1756), born in Malmedy, was from 1717-1725 a Jesuit, from 1725-1731 professor of geography and mathematics at Würzburg, and from 1731 a freelance author in Cologne. E. Martène published a reply in Cologne 1730, followed by a reaction of Roderique in 1731.
