First edition of the translation by Chappuys of this book giving a good overview of the scholarly knowledge of that time (alchimy, medicine and surgery, philosophical stone, gardening, military and politics, etc.). The first edition in Italian was published in 1584 under the title "Lo spechio di scienza universale".
