5 vol., 8vo; 301 pl. (occ. spotting).
Contemp. calf, gilt fillet on boards, flat spines (head of vol. 5 sl. damaged, spines sl. rubbed, corners sl. bumped).
Publication compiled by the Ghent botanist and horticulturist Charles Morren (1807-1858) illustrated with 5 identical engr. titles by Ch. Onghena and 292 lithogr. plates showing nice flowers and fruits (Nissen mentions 291 pl.; digitised copies and Biodiversity Heritage Library show no specific pl. for n. 133*), hand-coloured or chromolithogr. by G. Severeyns or Alex. Lagarde of which 10 folding and 10 pl. in b/w of which 2 folding; some woodcuts in-text. Morren was director of the Jardin botanique de l'Université de Liège and was the first to discover a method for artificial pollination, which made it possible to cultivate vanilla in the French colonies.
